The Importance of World Humanitarian Day 2022

Updated: Mar 24, 2023

On Friday 19th August, The United Nations and global businesses will highlight the importance of World Humanitarian Day 2022. Annually, this day represents the dedication of humanitarian workers and people who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes. This is a subject that’s weaved within Unimed’s actions towards increasing access to worldwide healthcare products.

What is the Theme of World Humanitarian Day 2022?

The theme for this year’s annual day of recognition is #RealLifeHeroes. The campaign will share inspiring and empowering personal stories of the humanitarians that have been heroes during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is a prime opportunity for millions to come together to commemorate and recognise the commitment of global humanitarian workers. The industry is evergreen, as humanitarian relief is needed 365 days a year.

Why Is This Important?

World Humanitarian Day 2022 is crucial, as so many workers have dedicated their lives to aiding others through the pandemic. Humanitarian workers’ life-saving assistance has also benefited those experiencing wars, natural disasters and overall vulnerability.

What’s Unimed’s Message for Humanitarian Workers?

As a leading, acting procurement agent, Unimed could not function without the assistance of front-line humanitarian workers. Our mission is to increase access to healthcare products globally, and by providing essential products and equipment to countries during times of crisis, we are working with humanitarian staff to improve the health of millions.

Shameet Thakkar, Unimed’s Founder and Managing Director, has a message for humanitarian workers in recognition of World Humanitarian Day 2022:

“On behalf of Unimed, I would like to thank all humanitarian workers that dedicate their time to assisting others through moments of crisis. We have all lived through trying times, but over the last few years, the humanitarian relief limits have been pushed like never before.”
